Diversify Your Shelves is a monthly book club and we have been hosting readalongs of diverse new releases since August 2020. It has since then evolved into a platform and a community that is dedicated to uplifting marginalized voices and sharing the joy of reading diverse books. How does our book club work?
Diversify Your Shelves is a book club dedicated to reading and uplifting marginalized voices and the joy of discovering new favorite books together. We pick a recently released diverse book every month and host readalongs over on our Instagram account. Our books of the month are usually YA with the occasional adult or NA novel and range from coming-of-age contemporaries to historical fantasies. If you join one of our readalongs, you will get access to an exclusive Instagram group chat, story templates, and the link to our monthly book club discussion.Since launching our book club, we have expanded Diversify Your Shelves into a community that not only reads books together every month but also celebrates diverse books all year round. We host two bi-annual events called “Diversify Your June” and “Diversify Your December” which include readathons, live discussions, game nights, and more. In the past couple of years, we have also shared dozens of recommendation posts curated by us or in collaboration with authors to help readers find their next favorite book.
